Washing Machine 101

8 01 2012

The washing machine was making loud clicking noises when it went into Spin mode, which was bad news. I decided to try and tackle it myself, as it might be as simple as aligning or cleaning some parts.

Well, after an hour of troubleshoot, I finally found the source of the problem: a broken gear motor. A spot of Google search and I saw that it can potentially be replaced by myself but first, I’ll have to find a place that sold it and sadly, no one sold it via the net.

So I went to Jalan Pasar to look for it and lo and behold, I found one!

It’s amazing what kinda stuffs could be found there. New gear motor on the left, broken original on the right.

All done, and the washing machine is as good as new. And there you have; repairing a washing machine isn’t that difficult.

Darn it, I gotta stop praising myself for being so GOOD!

The Big 4

30 10 2011

No, we’re not talking about the Four Heavenly Kings 四大天王 and neither are we talking about the BPL teams of Man United, non-MU, non-MU and non-MU (go make up your own teams).

Yup, I’ve just turned 40!

Some may say that “40 is the new 30” and also “naughty 4-noughty” but whatever said and done, I hope I’m older AND wiser.

A shot with the princes and princesses

My birthday wish is for all family and friends to have good health and plentiful wealth.

Not enuff money to put the "nie" to Ronnie?

Happy birthday to ME!!!

Birthday Gift for Myself

28 10 2011

My birthday is coming soon, and this being a BIG birthday (noughties are always big), I decided to get myself something special.

It’s a CD of my favourite Japanese band, Anzenchitai 安全地带, with their latest album 安全地带 XII which wouldn’t be released so soon in Malaysia and wouldn’t be easily found as well anyway. So I did the next best thing: I ordered it via the net from Hong Kong and voila!

安全地带 XII

Arrived just in time before we moved office, otherwise FedEx would have returned it to sender.

Blood Donation

7 03 2010

It’s been quite some time since I last donated blood. Just so happened that The Summit was doing a Hari Sihat event which had blood donation as one of its activity.

I’m on TV

20 02 2010

The Summit Subang USJ had organized for Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) to hold the launch of a donation drive for USJ residents, in response to the recent Haiti earthquake devastation. As usual, I was tasked with representing the mall, as well as the role of spokesperson in case the reporters turned up to cover the event.

Press reporters? Turned out none came. TV reporter? Yes, there was one! Bernama TV turned up to cover the event and voila! I had my 15 seconds of fame on TV.

Time To Move On With My Career

15 09 2009

My career with Giant is coming to a close soon, as I have tendered my resignation letter today. It has not been an easy decision to make, especially when I have served the company for the last 8 1/2 years.

Nevertheless, the opportunity to learn something new elsewhere was too good to pass up. The fact that my future boss came down personally to speak to me about the job prospect, coupled with the current impasse in career, meant that the decision made is without regret.

Giant Sales Commitment Conference

14 11 2008

Well, it’s that time of the year again – Giant’s annual Sales Commitment Conference. This year’s conference was held at the same venue as last year, at Pulai Springs Resort in Johor.

Four days three nights of endless seminar-style listening to go with the endless rounds of eating, drinking and partying (I kid you not!). It’s the same pattern every year. Morning till afternoon will be in the hall listening to endless droning about meeting next year’s budget. Late afternoon will see everyone take part in sports and activities, followed quickly with other side activities and presentations to go with your dinner. Lastly, it’ll be drinks, drinks and more drinks to cap the night.

This year’s theme was related to F1, something about ‘racing ahead of the competition’. Look at my tag and you’ll know.

img_6888This annual energy-sapping conference is not exactly something that’s enjoyable but it’s also not something that’s dreaded. To get all the goodies, you’ll need to pay the price. Plenty of booze, added with lack of sleep and rest, is something that thankfully only happens once a year.

It’s MY Birthday

Thank you, Julia.

Another year older, another year wiser hopefully.

I’m Moving AGAIN

29 10 2008

Looks like my bosses decided to give me a ‘birthday gift’ to me this year, as I’ve been told that I will be moved out from Giant Klang to be transferred to a new complex, Giant Putra Heights, scheduled to open mid-January 2009.

This will be the third move in a year since leaving Giant Senawang, with 6 months at Batu Caves and six months here. I will be reporting to work at Head Office from next week onwards until the site is ready.

I accepted the move, albeit reluctantly, as it wasn’t much of a choice anyway. It’s unsettling to keep adjusting to a new environment every six months, aside from having to start all over again for all other things in work. I guess I’ll have to go with the flow until the next opportunity comes a-knocking. You’ll never know, it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

GHKG Annual Dinner

22 10 2008

Today was Giant Klang’s 6th Annual Dinner, which was held at the KLIA Pan Pacific Hotel. Themed “Traditional & Elegant”, it was the first time I attended Klang’s annual dinner do. I was seated at the VIP table as usual, just beside the VVIP table. Normally the table would be filled with other Division Heads and committee members but somehow, all of them were busy with the do. In the end, the table was filled by my team members from the office and Maintenance Dept.

My team, Sharifah and Angel.

Everyone had an enjoyable time, since it was basically a night to celebrate the contributions of all the staff. I left around 11.15 pm when the whole thing ended, didn’t want to hang around for the dancing session, in case the VVIPs decide to catch hold of me for a drinking session instead.
